STFA Construction Company in JV with EREN Company has signed a contract with GPC for Communication, Transport & Telecommunications, and Maritime Transport & Ports Administration in Libya for Benghazi Port Project Phase 2.
STFA–EREN JV has submitted their bid on 15 November 2006 and currently is waiting for the final approval of Libya Follow up & Control Department. STFA-EREN JV has already started the works for the master plan of the project.
The project has a value of 104.000.000 USD and a construction period of 33 months. The project scope covers the construction of various civil works including earthworks (157.000m3 excavation and 1.005.000 m3 filling), roads, paving and surfacing (1.500.000 m2 surfacing), drainage and piped services (14,8 km water main, 18.1 km surface water drainage), electrical services, fencing and gates (3320 m fencing,317m3 concrete, 297m2 blockwork), buildings (54.000m2) and concrete Piles (35.000m). |

The apparatus of implementing housing projects in Libya has signed in the last few days a number of contracts for infrastructure projects in seven cities including Zlitin, Zawia, Buttnan, Benghazi , Sirte and Tripoli .
The contracts are worth L.D 718.2 million and focused on sewage, water desalination and road construction. Most of the money, however, went to projects in Tripoli city including a built way around the city, a sewage station of Hadhaba Al-Khathra and the construction of Jamal Abdul Nasser street. |

A Berlin-based group of architect said it has been awarded a contract to design a sprawling new headquarters for the Libyan government in Tripoli.
The firm Leon Wohlhage Wernik said that the government buildings will be spread out over 230 hectares and must be partially completed by 2009 to mark the 40th anniversary of First Al-Fateh Revolution.
The project will only be fully completed in 2017, however, said Anneke Holz, a spokeswoman for the firm.
It will cost between 2.5 billion and three billion euros (3.4 billion and 4.1 billion dollars).
A model of the firm's winning design posted on its website shows flat-roofed ministries lining a large rectangular park dotted with palm trees.
The complex has been compared by the German press to the futuristic, utopian architectural style employed in the Brazilian capital Brasilia in the 1950s by German architect Oscar Niemeyer.
It will be situated between Tripoli's international airport and the capital's historical centre and will also include a mosque, a towering five-star hotel and a conference centre.
Leon Wohlhage Wernik said their design for the government headquarters was chosen over those submitted by acclaimed Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid and Japan's Kisho Kurokawa.
The competition required a functional concept with a high level of design, as well as an architecture that inspires identity, representing both modern Libya and its tradition. The architects see the project named Tripoli Greens as an important representation of the new Libya.
